Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif who is currently out of Indian Cricket Team for a long time now seems to have focused on other than cricket. He has found himself as one among the 194 candidates that was selected by Congress Party to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2014. He was offered with a ticket for Allahabad constituency from the Congress Party, exactly the constituency from which former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru got elected. “I was born and brought up in Allahabad. I have played cricket in the streets of this city. People looked at me with pride when I played for India. I am hopeful that they will support me. After cricket, politics is like a second innings for me. I hope to be as successful in politics as I was in cricket.” Lok Sabha contestant.
When asked about cricket, Mohammed Kaif who had last represented India way back in November 2006 said that he has no thoughts on retiring from professional cricket who is currently plays for the Uttar Pradesh Ranji cricket team. This player insisted that he still has some cricket left in him. “I am in form now. I have played two good innings scoring 80 and 70 in Jaipur only a few days ago. People feel that politics is dirty. So I thought, I will enter politics and show people that work is also being done in politics.” said Mohammed Kaif.
