"I'll take right advantage of the goodwill I've earned" says Aamir Khan

Actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan, who is geared up for the new season of his social issues-related TV show "Satyamev Jayate", says he wants to continue to take the right advantages of being a celebrity, who is so loved by his fans.

"If a celebrity does some work, there is more attention. But the audience is very sharp, they understand everything. Whatever goodwill I have earned over the years, I'll (always) take the right advantage of it. I hope many more celebrities do it...the more the better," Aamir told IANS.

The actor is tight-lipped about the topics that he will touch upon in the second season of "Satyamev Jayate", which goes on air Sunday with a simulcast in six languages across STAR Plus, STAR World, STAR Pravah, STAR Vijay, Asianet, STAR Utsav and Doordarshan. There will also be a deferred telecast on ETV Telugu.

Asked if he will raise the issue of a 23-year-old woman who was gang-raped in a moving bus by five men and a minor in the capital, Aaamir said: "We don't discuss our topics. So I can't talk about it.

"All I can say is that all our topics are very important and all the topics are such that which you will feel that this is important and timely and it is important to think about this."

Story

Trisha (Vidya Balan) and Siddharth (Farhan Akhtar) are a married couple who want enjoy their lives and play every possible card to keep their married life fresh and exciting. Everything is going as planned until one fine day, Trisha gets pregnant and they soon welcome a baby girl in their life.

After having a baby, Trisha turns into a peculiar, full-time mommy and soon enough Sid starts missing his earlier fun-filled life. Sid in turn seeks marital advice from his brother-in-law, Ranveer (Ram Kapoor), who is “apparently” a good husband and the world’s best father. From Ranveer, Sid discovers a formula to keep himself and his family happy !!!

But does this formula work, or will Sid invite more trouble for himself ? To know what the formula and its side-effects are, you need to watch this film on the big screen.

Positive Aspects

In case you are a man looking for a fool-proof plan for a happy married life, then here it is “If you make a mistake, you say sorry … If she makes a mistake, you only say sorry.”

The movie deals with problems faced after getting married and also the dilemmas that one faces after becoming a parent! The first half is hilarious and doesn’t stop laughing for even a single second.

Speaking of performances, after a very long time we have two actors who have such effortless chemistry between each other. Farhan and Vidya look believable in every shot and a special mention goes to Farhan for his fine expressions and effortless wit.

Negative Aspects

The film is far too male-centric in its approach and is written totally from the male point of view. The second half of the film doesn’t really have that engaging quality that the first half possesses. It also has been dragged a bit too much which makes the viewers lose interest.

Vir Das is hilarious in his part, but is not given much space to take his character further. Purab Kohli looks like he has been picked from the coffee ad with Karan Johar and Deepika Padukone.

There are few parts which does not seem to be realistic such as the portion where Farhan forgets his child with a strange man.

Technical Aspects

Director Saket has done a decent job. The dialogues by Arshad Sayed in the first half are a riot while Farhan’s lines especially will provide some good laughs.

The songs are decent and because there are only a few and they do not act as a hindrance in the plot. The cinematography is natural and while some sharp editing helps in keeping the screenplay tight.

Shankar Mahadevan Nominated for Honesty Oscar Award 2014

Singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan is on Cloud Nine as "Mujhse hogi shurvaat" by I Paid a Bribe and the Shankar Mahadevan Academy has been nominated in the best activist anthem category of Honesty Oscars 2014.

A few days before the 86th Academy Awards, campaigning and advocacy organisation ONE and Accountability Lab started unveiling the nominations for Honesty Oscars 2014, an award that honours not Hollywood films, but the creative work of activists and organisations that fight global corruption.

The awards will be handed over to those who get maximum number of votes and the winners will be announced on the night of the Oscars, March 2. So far, three categories of Honesty Oscars have been unveiled - best visual effects, best activist in a leading role and the best activist anthem to honour original songs that have truly inspired audiences to learn about the fight against global corruption and join the movement, too.

"Our song has been nominated for the Honesty Oscar Awards! Please go to the link and vote...," Mahadevan tweeted Thursday.

The song is by the singer's online music academy and ipaidabribe.com - a Bangalore based non-profit organisation Janaagraha's initiative to tackle corruption by harnessing the collective energy of citizens.

"Mujhse hogi shurvaat" has been sung by Mahadevan, Sukriti Kakar, Prakriti Kakar and Chetan Naik. The almost four minutes-long song has been co-composed by Soumil and Siddharth.

It is up against Liberia's "Pot Boiling Remix" by Xpolay featuring Romeo Lee, JD Donzo, Luckay Buckay, Takun J, and Bentman tha Don; "Sheria" by Kenya's Sarabi Band featuring Juliani; "El soor" by Egypt's Youssra El Hawary and "Down by the riverside" by Dr and Da Green Soljas from Cameroon.

Aamir's "Satyameva Jayate", stint scares his mother

The fact that actor-producer Aamir Khan hosts a TV show like "Satyamev Jayate", where startling facts and cases about societal issues are picked, scares his mother.

The second season of the show is due to go on air on Star Plus March 2.

The debut season created quite a flutter as Aamir unraveled facts and figures about issues such as female foeticide, dowry demands, the skewed sex ratio in the country and the likes.

He says he gets a sense of the varied response to the show through his family.

"My family gives different reactions while watching the show. All my family members like the show. My mother is close to 80, and my niece and nephew who are 12 and 13 years old, enjoy the show equally," Aamir told IANS.

"My mother is scared...her reaction is different. She says, 'You are showing people who do wrong, with the right intention', but she says she is scared that what if those people go against me or harm me. After all, she is a mother, so she is scared," he added.

There have been reports that Aamir has been receiving threat calls, but he said: "I have only been receiving love from people and no threat calls these are just rumours."

"He is more popular than me" Says Mega Star

Indian Megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Wednesday shocked one and all by saying that Ranbir Kapoor is more popular than him and wishes to work with the actor, even if it is for a brief role. Meanwhile, Ranbir is going to make a cameo presence in Bachchan's upcoming film Bhootnath Returns. However, Ranbir and Amitabh have no common scenes that what lead Amitabh to express his views.

"I dont have a scene or a shot with him. I hope we can work together some day in a film. I would be ok doing even a small role in his film. He is very popular ...than me," Bachchan said, adding, "It is always great to work with younger actors...one learns a lot from them."

Now the question is how many top stars of Tollywood admit or express such things publicly? Almost all our big stars still want to play the lead roles, fight goons, romance ladies much younger than them, have to do a jig with them and want to be remained as hero unlike Amitabh who is doing character roles alongside lead roles. Shah Rukh Khan, who played the role of Aditya Sharma child Banku's father in Bhootnath, will be seen reprising his role in the sequel. He too has a cameo in the film and his character will be a continuation to the one that he played in Bhootnath (2008).
 
"In the first part my character goes to heaven and then he comes back to earth and how he meets this child called Akhrot is what the story is about," he said.
 
Bachchan will shake a leg with composer-singer Honey Singh in a rap song for the film, which is yet to be shot. The event saw Big B playing card tricks and showing some magic to the media.
 
'Bhootnath Returns' is a sequel to 2008 horror-comedy 'Bhootnath', which is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by T-Series & BR Films.
 
Bhoothnath Returns is scheduled to release on April 11 and stars Big B, Boman Irani and Marathi actress Usha Jadhav in the lead.

Story :

Jai Agnihotri (Salman Khan) is a patriotic ex-army officer who gets suspended for disobeying the orders of his boss during a terrorist operation and later becomes a car mechanic.  But, Although he tinkers and deals with jeeps he still strives into action when people need help or in trouble. He is shown helping a disabled student write her exams, reunites a kidnapped baby with his distraught mother. Salman who is trying to form a human ‘goodness’ chain gets highly interrupted with the local politician (Danny Dezongpa) who tries to disturb the movement by targeting Jai's mother (Nadira Babbar) and sister Geeta (Tabu). But Jai is not the kind of person who steps back, He fights to his enemies and saves his family. Jai, who thinks that the human ‘goodness’ chain movement which he initiated has been flopped feels frustrated but finally gets to know that this movement is well injected into the public.

Performances :

Salman Khan, Just like looks in Dabbang and Bodyguard, he simply looked like an incredible hulk all through the movie. The people love him unconditionally, in their eyes Khan can do no wrong and Its simply an one man show who dominates everyone on the screen. With the awesome performance he delivered during both the scenarios of sentiment and frightening degree of action drama, Salman Khan can easily lead this movie very successfully at the box office.
The debutant Daisy Shah,who had a very limited role in the movie has proved okay in her character.
Veteran villain Danny has once again proved himself with the negative avtar. His character of a ruthless and corrupted politician is a big positive to the story of the movie.
Other noticeable actors Suniel Shetty, Yash Tonk, Ashmit Patel, Bruna Abdullah and Sana Khan have also done a good job in the movie.

Technical aspects :

• Director tried his best,concept of the movie which is based on building a chain of generous is excellent but he got flattered during some sequences.
• Innovation, script development and editing are a bit weak, there are few scenes which have to be trimmed off to carry the movie at a good pace.
• BGM by Sandeep Shirodkar is the biggest asset for the film.
• Cinematography during the action scenes featuring Salman Khan is magnificent.
• The fights scenes are efficiently choreographed.

Analysis: 

Millions of fans rush to theatres to watch Salman Khan just as he delivered hits such as Dabbang, Ready and the Bodyguard has been proved to be critic-proof. Although with all his incredible look, the character of goodness with his Gandhian philosophy proved a little unbiased during some sequences. But Movie with all its ingredients will surely shake the box office. He tried to prove that Common man when provoked with evil corruption turns evil.
